Linda Ko | Canada It could be that immigrating to Canada might have been the first step in leading to my salvation, although you could go as far back as your birth and still see a connection to your salvation. It seems that everything that happens in your life is a step that leads to your salvation. Isn't this why we live? I was eight when my parents decided that life in Canada would bring more opportunities for our family. So, they took their three children and left their country and made Canada their own. The struggles that they endured became a life learning curve for me.Not quite a year after we moved to Canada, my younger sister, who was five, was hit by a car while crossing the street by herself.  She was killed instantly. This was my first confrontation with death. I saw her lying in the coffin and wondered if this was the end for her. She looked as if she was just sleeping. Since then I always had the question of what happens when we die.  My brother and I were raised without a religion. We were neither Buddhists nor Christian. However, my mother was quite superstitious and also mentioned God from time to time.One day, when I was about 17, my mother took me aside and told me that she had found something great and that she wanted me to find this as well. She started talking about this book called the Bible which was written by God. This was very interesting to me because I had never heard my mother talk about such things in the past. My parents actually made fun of those "Bible carrying religious" people.I had to hear what she had to say because their life up to this point was quite tumultuous and very superficial at best. My parents loved having fun. They worked, they ate, they drank and they worked again. This was their life. They also argued constantly. They drank every night to forget their troubles and fought constantly, I guess, to release their stress. I remember it got so bad one night I lay in my bed crying and praying to whatever power that was out there that please bring peace to my family. I challenged God that if He truly existed he would bring peace and then I would believe that he existed. Well it seems that He took my challenge.My parents had apparently gone to a gospel meeting. I found out later that Mr. Han had invited an evangelist from New York and gathered some people at his house for a gospel meeting. There, my parents were saved and became involved in the moim. Since that day I saw my parents actually having a discussion with each other and really enjoying each other's company. So, I listened to what my mother had to say about this Bible.  What could have changed them so drastically? She began talking about Adam and Eve, and how we were all sinners because we were descendants of them. This was the reason why we
