Clara | Madagascar My name is Clara and I was born again on October 11, 2007. My salvation verse is Isaiah 53:4-6: "Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all."     Before being born again, I was Catholic. I was baptized before I was even one year old. I received my first communion in 1997, when I was only 7, then I continued catechism and I made my declaration of faith in 1999, at the age of 9. After that, I followed another year of catechism study before stopping. I do not remember much of the five years during which I studied catechism, as I was too young and because I did so out of obligation and not my own will. I only remember that we learnt about the life of Jesus, the miracle that He had accomplished and that He was the Son of God.     During my year of catechism, I attended Church every Sunday, but this too was out of obligation, as my catechism teacher would check the priest's signatures at the end of the notebook, as evidence that I attended church the previous Sunday. I did not understand anything that the priest said and, I would just stand up when everyone stood up, sing when it was time to sing, and so on.   Among the Catholic, the Bible is not explained - they just tell us that God exists; they make a description of the God who punishes someone who commits sins and, in order to be forgiven, one must confess and pray afterwards.
